Yeah, parts of American Psycho are satirical, but not the violent parts – they are flat, vacant, bland. People who aren’t squeamish, fans of the Eighties. I did think it was a good book but I hated all the animal cruelty. I wavered between admiration, amusement and repulsion throughout many of the earlier chapters, but Psicooata really loved the ending; the build-up and the subtle changes and the conclusion itself, all so brilliantly done.


Chances are, you aren’t even close to thinking about what Pat put his victims through. He’s incredibly mocking and satirical, but ultimately he makes a serious statement.

I totally get it the purposely boring rythm of the book is intended psicopatx mimick the shallowness on the lives of this group of characters and that the “psychopatic” behaviour of Bateman is a critique to the greediness and total lack of respect to the society of those Wall Street morons, but the way he builds his novel and writes about it is very amateurish, almost as if written by an angry teenager for a school paper, complaining about everything wrong in the world without any structure.

What the hell is so impressive about that??

Each chapter almost always started with Patrick Bateman describing what another person wore from head to foot; Giorgio Armani here, Ralph Lauren there, yada yada insert banal conversations here and how much he loved fucking women; occasional mention of Les Miz there.

I can’t emphasize enough how monstrous Bateman’s behavior is. So, am I still wondering why this is
